Casford Hall Week Ban Lifted

The ban placed on Casely Hayford Hall of the University of Cape Coast restraining the Hall from celebrating its Hall Week has been lifted, choicism.com can report.

The seven year Hall Week drought was lifted following a series of letters from the Hall Council Executives appealing to the university authorities to left the ban.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Deputy Registrar of academics, Mr. Jeff Teye Nyame on January, 21, 2015.

“We write to inform you that the ban now stands lifted with effect from the beginning of the 2014/2015 Academic year,” the statement disclosed.

The statement further said that the organization of DRAP by students of the Hall would continue to be regulated by section 18 of the revised Students’ Handbook of the university.

To officially announce the lift of ban on the Hall, a mini- ceremony organized to commemorate this day on Friday, February 6, 2015 which was attended by the dignitaries including the Dean of Student, Dr. Kaowo Edjah, and a host of others.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Hall President, Francis Kwabena Arthur reiterated the commitment of the Hall Executives to fight in the course of the Hall.

He maintained that the Hall Week Celebration would start from February 25 to March 1.

It will be recalled that the University Authorities slapped a ban on the Hall following a violent clashes between Casford and their arch rival, the Atlantic Hall during the 2007/2008 academic year.

The near-fatal clashes resulted in the alleged kidnapping of one Casfordian who claimed he was stripped and assaulted.

A decision was taken thereof by the university authorities placing a ban restraining the Hall from celebrating it Hall Week.
