The system, which was designed by some Ghanaians in Dansoman at the cost of $2.5 million, will provide about 16.1 billion locations with an address in the country.

At the 3rd Institutional Advancement Lecture Series at the University of Cape Coast (UCC), Vice President, Dr.  Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia, on Wednesday, October 4, 2017, said the system, is part of initiatives aimed at building a strong economy by harnessing ICT toward enhancing the country’s institutional and governance capacity.

“The digital addressing system is going to provide us the most advanced addressing system in the world. This is what we are about to roll out”, he said.

He also mentioned that with the help of the Registrar General’s Department, Ghana will go fully online for the registration of businesses, later this month.

According to him, this will enable people to register their businesses and get their licenses between a day or a few days without stress.

“All of you who have tried to register a business at the Registrar General know how difficult and incumbent the process is.”

Speaking on the theme “Developing Stronger Economies For The African Continent: The Missing Link”, he disclosed that the building of these types of information infrastructure will help the nation to expand the tax base of the economy, increase domestic resource mobilization and also leverage private sector capital to support development.
