UCC Supports Thomas Vincent Cann

The University of Cape Coast has presented an amount of GHS 2, 000 to Mr. Thomas Vincent Cann, a TV3 reporter in Cape Coast.

Mr. Cann who has been diagnosed with end stage kidney disease has been soliciting funds to enable him ender go a kidney transplant operation in either South Africa or India.

Presenting the money to him on behalf of management of the University, the Public Relations Officer, Major Kofi Baah-Bentum (rtd) said the University had a good working relationship with him as a reporter hence, it is appropriate to render a helping hand.

Major Baah-Bentum assured him that the University was solidly with him in these challenging moments adding that “We will continue to pray for you and it is our hope and prayer that the good Lord will get you out of this soon.” He also said that the University would raise additional funds to cater for his medical bills.

In his response, Mr. Cann expressed gratitude to the University for the support. He pointed out that the cost for dialysis and medication in a week was GH¢1,000. He pledged to establish a kidney foundation if he recovered from the disease and therefore used the opportunity to call on the government to pay attention to persons with kidney diseases since the rate of infection was becoming alarming.
