NSS allowance increased

National Service Scheme (NSS)The National Service Secretariat (NSS) has announced that it would increase allowances for national service personnel that have been deployed across the country from the current GHC 240.00 to GHC 350. 00

According to the secretariat, the increment is necessary since there has not been any raise since 2011.

The Public Relations Officer of the NSS, Ambrose Entsiwah, who spoke to Citi News said the secretariat deemed it essential to raise the stipend to serve as an incentive for national service personnel.

According to him, over the years, salaries of workers have been increased and therefore, “it is important that national service personnel to receive commensurate so they could also serve the country.”

He revealed that a lot of proposals were received last year regarding salary increment but it had to go through processes for approval hence, the delay.

Mr. Entsiwah mentioned that the increment is “huge because for the past two years, we’ve not increased the allowances and we thought that it is very necessary for us to give them this leap.”
