SRC Donates to GMSA UCC

The Student’s Representative Council (S.R.C) has donated an amount of One thousand Two Hundred Ghana Cedis (¢1,200) to the Ghana Muslim Student’s Association (G.M.S.A) UCC chapter.

Addressing a cross section of Muslim students at the University of Cape Coast Central Mosque during the Friday’s congregational prayer on 28th February, 2014, Mr. David Boakye, the SRC president, made it known to the students how the council is concerned about the welfare of Muslim students and will in turn help put up a canopy outside of the mosque for those congregants who do not find their way in to the mosque due to lack of space.

He however broke his silence on why the SRC has not commented on the brutal murder of one Mr. Godwin Chukwudi Ayogu, a Nigerian National who was a student of the University declaring that a team led by the head of chancellery at the Nigerian High Commission in Ghana, the University management and the family of the deceased has since held discussions on the unfortunate issue

He hinted that this issue is far beyond the issue of insecurity on campus stressing the Nigerian High Commission in Ghana has pleaded with (SRC) to hold their peace for now and that any breakout may degenerate into something else.

David Boakye also disclosed that the SRC in collaboration with the National Security will set up a District Police Station on campus to help curb or reduce the issues of theft and robbery on campus.
