Two UCC Students Win Inter-University Competition in French

Two students from the Department of French, UCC have won the Inter-University competitions organized by the International Organisation of Francophonie and the French Embassy for students in public universities in Ghana.

The two students Messrs Francis Mbawini Abugbilla and Essuman Gilles Evrard of level 400 and 100 respectively, stood tall among their colleagues from the University of Ghana, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, University of Education, Winneba and University for Development Studies.

For their prizes, they received mobile phones and assorted books as well as a two-week vacation to Paris, France. The two laureates will leave for France in June this year.

The competition which was part of the 2013 Francophone Week celebration was in two sessions comprising an essay on ‘Francophonie’ and a quiz to test students’ knowledge in the French language and culture.

It will be recalled that Miss Dinah Recheal Blankson a final year student of the French Department also won a similar contest dubbed “2012 Let’s Go to France” last year.
