‘Private schools would not comply to this system’- GNACOPS says to GES 2022 academic calendar

The Ghana National Council of Private Schools (GNACOPS) after the Ghana Education Service (GES) released the public school calendar for this academic year stated on Saturday saying ““Is fully unrealistic and comes as surprising,” hence, “private schools would not comply to this system.”

Therefore, has called for the 2022 semester academic calendar to be reviewed from the semester system to trimester at the Kindergarten and primary level.

According to the Ghana National Council of Private Schools calendar, the private students in the first term and the second term will spend 15 weeks in school and 16 weeks for the third term of the 2022 academic year.

Ghana Education Service in their calendar release indicated government basic school students will reopen on January 18, 2022, and vacate on June 10, 2022, for the first semester with April 12 to 18, 2022 as their mid-semester break.

Also, during the second semester, basic school students will return on July 26, 2022, and December 17, 2022, with September 30 to October 9, 2022, as their mid-semester break. They will spend 20 weeks in the two-semester respectively.

Meanwhile, the leadership of GNACOPS last week announced for private schools to reopen on Tuesday, January 11, 2022, for students to begin academic activities for the 2022 academic year until vacation on April 22, 2022.

The private school students after the April 22, 2022 vacation are scheduled to return to school on May 9, 2022, to begin the second term and vacate on August 19, 2022. They will reopen on September 7, 2022, to start the third term.
