The 50th Anniversary Planning committee has presented its report of the year-long anniversary celebration to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. D. D. Kuupole at a short ceremony at the Academic Board Chamber, South Campus.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Chairman of the Committee, Prof. Kobina Yankson, noted that the report captured the inauguration of the committee, activities and programmes, challenges and recommendations. He noted that members of the committee worked tirelessly before and during the anniversary period to ensure a successful celebration. He indicated that despite the challenges they encountered, the committee was able to deliver up to expectation.
Touching on three key recommendations by the committee, Prof. Yankson emphasized on the need to adequately resource the alumni section to function effectively. He also suggested the naming of certain landmarks in the University after individuals who had contribute to the success story of UCC. He urged the university management to seek additional funds to support the ICT Complex to be constructed as a monument to commemorate the anniversary celebrations.
Receiving the report, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast, Prof. Kuupole expressed gratitude on behalf of the University Council and management for good work by the committee. He gave the assurance that the committee’s recommendations would be considered so that the necessary measures would be put in place for future anniversary celebrations.
Present at the function were the Registrar, Mr. John Kofi Nyan and some members of the 50th Anniversary Planning Committee.
