The Ghana Muslims Students Association (GMSA) of the University of Cape Coast on Friday, 21st February ,2014 donated items worth several cedis to the Ankaful Prisons as part of activities marking an annual Islamic propagation week celebration.
The donation which was presented to the inmates on behalf of the association by the GMSA executives, Imam councils, and some members of the association included items such as toiletries, Qurans, food items, soaps, used clothing and many more.
Receiving the items on behalf of the inmates, the Operation Officer, ASP R.K. Offei thanked the association for their kind gestures, reiterating that the inmates survive largely from donations from benevolent organizations and philanthropists and therefore urged other bodies to emulate from this kind gesture.
Speaking on behalf of GMSA, the GMSA President, Abdul-Rahman Al-Hassan said that they were motivated by the need to help the marginalized and the deprived in society as dictated in the Holy Quaran, and took the occasion to thank to all members who contributed generously for the course.
The GMSA Chief Imam, Muzzammil Amin Bamba on his part admonished the inmates to seek Allah and righteousness which will direct their steps closer to the Almighty Allah who will bestow them with mercy and a change of heart.
He maintained that the inmates should never despair and give up to life but see their current predicament as a test from Allah, stressing that some of them might be there on false charges and therefore they always call to Allah.
The donation which is part of a week-long celebration which focuses to demystify myths and falsehood people have conjectured about Islam and also help improve faith of members was well received.
