A cross section of students of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) have requested the embattled self-styled student activist, Master Philip Glover, to give answers to the kind of welfare he is seeking for students.
This was after a Students and Management Consultative Meeting on Thursday, April, 9, 2015 at the UCC Main Auditorium which brought together all the top niche of the university management including the Vice-Chancellor, the Registrar and the rest, who interacted with students within the university.
The university management had out rightly stated that there would be no undergraduate student representative at the university’s Council Meeting, Residential Board Meeting and other boards to bargain on behalf of students on issues of school fees and other matters of concern to students.
This situation, the university management contend, had become imperative as result of the court cases that have left the student leadership without a leader.
Speaking to Choicism.com reporter Enoch Acheampong after the consultative meeting, some students expressed disgust at the protracted court issues that have engulfed the university leading to the student front having no leader to represent their interest.
Eric Amoah, a level 300 student, rhetorically questioned; “Is Philip Glover seeking our interest? How would his action resolve our water challenges, the hike in both Wifi and ICT fees, the worsening security challenges on campus, dawn quizzes etc?”
Other students interviewed expressed similar sentiments.
The aggrieved students therefore appealed to Philip Glover to withdraw the case pending before the Cape Coast High Court to ensure the student front resumes normalcy so that students would get a representative to speak on their behalf on all university board meetings.
