The newly elected executives of the Students Representative Council (SRC) of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) for 2015/16 Academic year have been sworn into office.
The ceremony took place at Felt Auditorium 900 on Friday, May 22, 2015.
Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony, the Dean of students of UCC,Prof. Kwaow Edjah urged the new crop of leaders to have the supreme interest of students at heart in the discharge of their duties.
He advised students to do away with student political activities and engaged in student leadership activities.
“Enough of student political activities;let us begin to cultivate student leadership activities and leave Politics behind our doors”. he noted.
He called on the new officers, in consultation with major stakeholders, to draft a new constitution to run the SRC to avert any legal tussle adding amongst other things that the SRC election would not be in court again.
“I pray we will not go to court again and when we go then somebody will terminate his studentship as early as practicable.We have sharpen the Student handbook…..”he noted.
The new SRC executives who took the oath of allegiance included: Francis Kwabena Arthur(President), Rebecca Yeboah Agyei(Vice-President), Elizabeth Dwamena(Secretary), Elizabeth Boateng(Cordinating Secretary), Theophilus Sossi(PRO) and Appiah Kubi Kofi (General Sports Secretary).
The new president,Francis K. Arthur in his acceptance speech, thanked the students for the confidence and trust reposed in him and called on his colleagues to work tirelessly for the interest of the students in particular and the university in general.
