The Valco Hall of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) on Friday emerged as winners of the 20th Inter-Hall Athletics Competition held at the University Sports Complex.
The two-day event brought all academic activities to a halt following the suspension of lectures and quizzes.
Valco Hall, affectionately known as “Industrialists”, placed first in both the male and female divisions of the competition with 22 medals and 18 medals respectively.
In the Boys’ Division, Nkrumah Hall (KNH) had 12 medals whilst Oguaa Hall and Atlantic Hall (ATL) won 5 medals and 8 medals respectively.
At the end of the event, Frank Anim of Valco Hall emerged as the overall best athlete in the male division, while Patricia Duffie was adjudged the overall best athlete in the female category.
Speaking to Choicism, the Head Coach of UCC Athletics,Mr. Daniel Apaak, noted that UCC had the talents to win the GUSA games and defend its title as the defending champions.He urged the athletes to train very hard and take their studies serious.
The ceremony was graced by thousands of students,lecturers,student government officials,as well as a section of the university management.
