Robbers raid Ghanahene’s room at his new hostel

Robbers broke into Mr.Kweku Sekyi Hughes,alias Ghanahene,a leading student activist at the University of  Cape Coast’s (UCC) room at dawn on Saturday, 29th August 2015 and made away with a cash of GH 880 and other valuables.

He told the’s Enoch Acheampong that the unidentified robber(s) stole his brand new laptop computer(valued GH 1,500),Old laptop (GH1000),Samsung Galaxy S V(valued GH 1000),rechargeable lamp (GH 55) and a power bank(GH 55).

According to him, he smells a rat that the robber(s) might not be ordinary but student criminal(s) judging by the preliminary probe by the Police investigation.

“According to the CID, if the robber(s) were ordinary, they would have taken some items in the first room before entering his bedroom to loot him” he sadly said.

He noted that a formal complaint has been lodged with the Police Station(UCC) pending further investigations but no arrest has been made.

Ghanahene seized the chance to appeal to students to assist him trace his loss items,which are all Binatone branded.

He called on students to report suspicious students and characters who sell items to them at a low prices.

Meanwhile, the UCC Police has appealed to members of the University Community to volunteer credible information that would lead to the arrest of the suspect(s) for a handsome reward.

The SRC President,Francis Arthur,including the Local NUGS Co-ordinator,Micheal Tetteh,upon hearing the tragic news, paid a commiseration visit to the residence of Ghanahene to see at firsthand the extent of the loss.
