SRC Organises Clean-up and Tree Planting Exercise

The SRC President, David Boakye has called on students to help preserve the environment and rid the campus of filth.

He said this at a clean-up and tree planting campaign which was organized by the SRC as part of activities marking the 51st SRC Week Celebrations which is on the theme, “ego be badder than bad” Saturday,February, 22, 2014.

“As a student from the sciences, there are a lot of biological benefits of tree planting and preserving the environment especially in respiration and transpiration” he said.

The SRC president disclosed that his office lobbied from the Winneba land and forestry who willingly gave them 400 free species of trees to plant, urging student to take proper care of the trees.

The clean-up and the tree planting exercise was massively participated students from all the halls of residence and the diasporas including SRC aspirants, hall executives and the entire SRC executives.

The students numbering about two hundred and above planted trees and swept areas such as the parliament house area, in front of the Science Market, the Science taxi station and many areas.

Participants were also treated with salivating meal of kenkey and fish.
