UCC Joins UNCTAD VI

The University of Cape Coast (UCC) has become a member of United Nations Conference on Trade and Development’s Virtual Institute (UNCTAD Vi) based in Geneva, Switzerland, by signing a collaboration agreement on 4th March, 2013.

UNCTAD Vi will collaborate with the Department of Economics, UCC with Dr. Camara Kwasi Obeng as the Coordinator and Dr. Samuel Kobina Annim, Dr. William Gabriel Brafu-Insaidoo, Dr. Emmanuel Ekow Asmah and Prof. Vijay Bhasin as core members.

The collaboration is expected to enhance training and research in trade, development and poverty related issues in the Department of Economics, UCC.

As a first step to cementing the collaboration between the two institutions, UNCTAD Vi in collaboration with the Department of Economics, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Cape Coast will organize a week long training workshop on the use of STATA to analyze Trade and Development issues for academic staff and selected postgraduate students of the Department. The external resource person is Cristian Ugarte of UNCTAD Vi.

The Workshop will take place at the ICT Centre of the University of Cape Coast from 20th May, 2013 to 24th May, 2013. UNCTAD Vi will issue participants with a certificate of participation. Attendance is strictly by Invitation.
