The Paramount Chief of Oguaa Traditional Area, Osabarima Kwesi Atta II, has called on UCC to uphold its enviable academic achievements to project the University as a centre of excellence in Ghana and beyond.
Osabarima Kwesi Atta II congratulated UCC for producing high calibre graduates who are contributing towards the development of the nation in diverse ways especially in the educational sector.
The Paramount Chief made these remarks when he welcomed the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. D. D. Kuupole and other officials from UCC at the Heritage House, Cape Coast. He assured the Vice-Chancellor of his continuous support to the University whenever possible.
Explaining the reasons for the visit, Prof. Kuupole indicated that it was to formally introduce himself as the new Vice-Chancellor to the traditional leader of Cape Coast. He also used the opportunity to introduce the Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Prof. John Nelson Buah and the Registrar, Mr. John K. Nyan.
He thanked the Oguaa Traditional Council for their continuous support to the University over the years and therefore called for the same assistance during his tenure of office. In addition, the Vice-Chancellor pleaded with the Traditional Council to liaise with the University management in finding lasting solution to the increasing rate of encroachment on UCC lands. Prayers were offered.
Earlier, the Vice-Chancellor and the team also visited the President of the National House of Chiefs, Daasebre Kwebu Ewusie VII who also expressed his preparedness to assist in any capacity to uplift the image of the University.
