UCC: Parliament Reconvenes on Feb. 4

The University of Cape Coast (UCC) House of Parliament(HP) will on Thursday,February 4,2016 reconvene for the first sitting in the semester after a busman’s (Christmas) holidays.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Business Committee of the House, and copied to the CHOICISM.COM on Monday afternoon.

The statement said the substantive motion for members to deliberate upon is “That the recent happenings in the Kwame Nkrumah Hall is justifiable. The house would also do an official welcoming of students back to campus.

The subsidiary motion, the statement noted, is “That the recent hikes in tarriff and utility by government is justifiable”.

The MPs who last Saturday, together with some SRC officials attended Hon.Paul Addah’s mother’s funeral in Accra, indicated that they were poised for an educative debate on Thursday, urging the student body to throng to the Chamber to observe proceedings at 9:00am.

The UCCHP is students’ mock parliament of the Ghanaian House of Parliament which has a Speaker,Majority and Minority sides, based on non-partisan balloting.

Some MPs, as of press time, were in their constituencies inspecting developmental projects at first-hand,whilst other MPs,with SRC/JCR ambitions,were touring their constituencies to canvass for votes for the upcoming SRC/JCR Polls,which are likey to come off in March this year.
