The Department of Ghanaian Languages has received donation of books valued at several thousands of dollars from the University of Florida, United States of America.
The donation was facilitated by a lecturer of the Department, Mr. Emmanuel Ofori-Amo, who is currently pursuing a Ph. D programme at the Department of Linguistics, University of Florida.
Presenting the books Mrs. Henrietta Gyamaa Ofori , wife of Mr. Ofori-Amo noted that the donation was to express her husband’s gratitude to UCC for offering him numerous opportunities to develop his career. She also thanked the Head of the Department of Linguistics, University of Florida, Prof. Fiona McLaughlin for donating the books to facilitate teaching and learning at UCC.
Receiving the books, the Head of the Department of Ghanaian Language UCC, Mr. Okofo Asenso expressed appreciation to the University of Florida for the gesture and looked forward to further collaboration between the two universities.
Present at the short ceremony were family members of Mr. Emmanuel Ofori-Amo and lecturers of the Faculty of Arts.
