UCC Students Commend SRC President Abraham Norman Nortey For Constructing A Major Footbridge.

Students of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) have commended Abraham Norman Nortey, the 62nd President of the Students Representative Council (SRC), for completing a major footbridge at SWLT that previously posed a challenge to students whenever it rained heavily.

In an inspiring display of compassion and visionary leadership, Abraham Norman Nortey has personally constructed a footbridge at the SWLT area a gesture that has brought immense relief to thousands of students.

According to a communique from the SRC’s Public Relations Office, the entire project was fully funded by Abraham Norman Nortey using his own personal resources. The footbridge, which was officially handed over to the SRC on Wednesday, 24th July 2025, stands as a testament to his deep commitment to student welfare.

“For years, students have struggled to access lecture halls due to the poor and unsafe condition of that path some even falling and sustaining injuries. Today, that challenge has been solved not through institutional funds, but by the heart of one man who chose to lead differently,” the statement read.

The SWLT footbridge project is more than just infrastructure. It is a symbol of student led transformation. It reflects the belief that student leadership can go beyond advocacy to delivering tangible, and lasting impact.

This is not just leadership; this is legacy, many students have echoed across social media in response to the announcement. The Norman-led SRC administration continues to receive praise for its unique approach to student service and development.
