The office of the 18th Student Parliament of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) embarked on a courtesy call to the Dean of Students, Professor Eugene Darteh, on Wednesday, 17th March 2020 seeking support and counsel in their term of office.
As part of the student parliament office’s annual courtesy call to the various officers of the university, they were in the office of the Dean of Students discussing issues in the interest of the students.
Paramount among them was how the Dean of Students could help promulgate the constitution since that gives the parliamentary council a strong backing to undertake its duties in the interest of students.
The Dean of Students in his response to the parliament’s appeal said the constitution largely lies in the remit of the student leaders to champion in their effort to make sure that it is promulgated within a short period of time.
Prof. Darteh further stated that it is in his interest to see to it that the constitution of the SRC has been promulgated for the student front to have a strong constitution even before the coming off of the next election.
Again, he charged the student parliament to liaise with the SRC to make sure the constitutional document put together by the previous administrations will cooperate with the current leaders to make changes to the constitution as early as possible to be put before the academic board for approval.
On that, he thanked the Dean of Students for making time to receive them and pleaded with the office to open its doors to receiving the house whenever they called.

(1st Deputy Speaker).
