Leadership of the Students Representative Council (SRC) of the University of Coast has sworn in members of the SRC sub committees for the 2016/2017 academic year.
The event which took place yesterday at the SRC Hostel Conference room was attended by the Dean of Students, Professor Koawo Edjah, Vice Dean of students, Dr Dartey Eugene and members of the SRC Executive council.
Before members of the over 10 sub committees were led to take the oath of allegiance by the SRC President, the SRC Vice President, Priscilla Asuming, gave a report on the structure of the vetting process that was used to arrive at selecting members for the various committees.
She said the vetting committee was a 14 member committee made up of 2 teams of which she was the chairperson. She also added that 160 students picked forms to join the SRC sub committees but 24 students failed to show up for vetting automatically disqualifying them. She brought to the knowledge of all present that among other things, knowledge in committee area, appearance and general knowledge were some of the criteria used during the vetting process.
The SRC coordinating secretary Elvera M. read to all members the outlined duties expected of each and every committee and committee members.
The Dean of Students and his Vice admonished members of the various committees to be committed.
The SRC President, Dennis Appiah Larbi-Ampofo made it clear to committee members that the protection of his name in the student front is very paramount to him since he shoulders any blame that is levelled against the SRC. He therefore did not mince words when he said he won’t hesitate to invoke the powers vested in him to fire anyone whose activities seek to bring the reputation of the council into disrepute.
“I won’t mind setting all of you aside and setting up a whole new committee members if you are not ready to serve our dear students” he said.
After his admonishments, he led all members to take the oath of allegiance.
The event which started at around 5:30pm ended at around 6:45pm
