The management of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) on Wednesday, 10th April has held a management-students consultative meeting at the Main Auditorium to address some pertinent issues raised by UCC students in the course of the academic year.
During the meeting, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast and Chairman of the meeting, Prof. Joseph Ghartey Ampiah tackled issues of different sectors.
Speaking on academics, Prof. Ghartey noted that lecturers should avoid conducting dawn quizzes, because per the University’s rules and regulations, no student is obliged to write any quiz scheduled outside normal lecture time frame, hence all quizzes should be fixed within the normal lecture time frame.
He further indicated that no lectures and quizzes should be held during public holidays unless the concerned students have come to full agreement with the lecturer to hold a lecture or write a quiz.
On the security sector, Prof. Ghartey indicated that accommodations will be made available on UCC campus for some police personnel to enable them keep security on campus tight.
He again said, UCC students who are part of cadet corps of the various halls will be given the opportunity after their first degrees to pursue their national service at the UCC security sector.
Prof. Ghartey also declared that traders at the science market will be relocated to a new site along the school bus road, and this action will help to prevent nonstudents from entering campus unnoticed.
Present at the meeting were some Heads of Departments, Lecturers, Students and other guests.
