The University of Cape Coast’s Students’ Representative Council (UCC SRC) has agreed that each student of the University is required to buy a MiFi device to enjoy a better internet connection on campus.
According to the Council in a press statement dated Friday, 23rd August, 2019, the only best option now for students of the University of Cape Coast to have a reliable and an unlimited internet access is by purchasing a Kleos MiFi device.
“It has been agreed that the Kleos MiFi will be the best medium through which students can enjoy unlimited internet access anywhere on campus, once a student has access to the device,” the statement read.
The statement explains that the internet challenge over the years for students of the University has been to have a host device for the bandwidth, which students are charged for annually at the cost of Ghc 66.00 as internet levy.
“It’s worth noting that every student of UCC pays an annual internet levy of Ghc 66.00, which is used to purchase bandwidth for the internet service. This bandwidth needs a device that will enhance internet connection to every student of the university, which had been a headache for the university over the past years.”
In view of this new arrangement, students with the MiFi device would not have to group at a hotspot or vantage areas before getting access to internet on campus.
This proposal is to complement the earlier project launch – Kleos/BoLTE technology, to provide high capacity, resilient, reliable, secure and dedicated wireless access to the University Community by the University management.
All a student would need to enjoy this new mechanism for a better internet connection on campus is to get the Kleos MiFi device which costs Ghc150.00 for continuing students and Ghc 200.00 for freshers.
The sale of the MiFi device is up from the 24th of August till 1st October, 2019 at the Office of the Directorate of ICT, CoDE building.
