The School of Business has held an awards ceremony to honour 126 students who had distinguished themselves academically in their various programmes of study.
All the students had attained a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) is 3.6 and above which qualified them to appear in the Dean’s List for the special award.
Speaking at the function, the Dean of the School of Business, Prof. Edward Marfo-Yiadom noted that the Dean’s List was introduced four years ago to encourage student’s to work hard to merit recognition. He indicated that over the years there had been appreciable increase in the number of students who fall within the target set for the awards. He also pointed out that the School was expecting at least 10 percent of the students to attain first class.
Prof Marfo-Yiadom further stated that students whose name consistently featured in the Dean’s List would receive special prizes during congregation and also gave the assurance that “a memorial plaque would be designed to recognize such students when the School of Business completes its permanent building.” He congratulated the students on their enviable achievement.
On his part, the Registrar, Mr. John Kofi Nyan, advised the students to aim towards excellence in their academic work noting that “The University has inculcated in you rich knowledge and discipline to excel at your respective work places after graduation.” He encouraged those who did not qualify for the awards to work harder to be recognized next year.
The Dean of Students, Rev. Prof. Benjamin Abotchie Ntreh who also spoke at the function reminded the award winners to maintain the grades until level 400 so that they would graduate with first class. He commended the School of Businees for re-introducing the Dean’s List which used to exist in the 1970’s.
The function was chaired by the Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Prof. J. V. Mensah.
