Sheik Abubakar Adam, an Islamic scholar has refuted allegation that Islam does not respect the rights of women.
He made this remark at the launch of the 14th Annual Islamic propagation week which is on theme, “Purging Islam of myths; Our Prime Duty” on Saturday, February,22, 2014 at the University of Cape Coast.
Quoting verses from the holy Quran to support his claim, Sheik Adam maintained that the holy Prophet Mohammed (pbuh) took the counsel of both men and women, underpinning how Islam revere and respect women, adding that Islam even recognizes women right to inheritance.
Speaking on the topic, Human rights and justice in Islam, Sheik Adam opined that the right to same sex as being championed by some human right groups is a collision on the right to reproduction as ordained by the creator.
He noted that as far as human beings claim we have rights, believers must also come to the realization that Allah also has rights which are incumbent upon his creatures and therefore the issue of homosexuality must be abhorred and condemned.
Others speakers also included Dr K.K. Aziz, Director at UCC hospital who also spoke extensively about cancer and admonished people to engage in more physical activities and eat good diet as well as report any symptom to ensure early detection so that it can be treated.
The programme saw many people throng to the auditorium to the amazement of all.
The week-long celebration also includes GMSA Women forum, an excursion and a host of other activities.
