Pro-Vice chancellor of the University of Cape Coast Professor John Nelson Buah has honoured the graduation of a 100 member Central Regional Ghana Tailors and Dressmakers Association.The occasion was also graced by Central regional Minister honourable Aquinas Tawiah Quansah who sensitized members in the region on the need to project the beauty of their field.
One’s outfit, they say, defines one’s personality, and therefore ‘made in central region’ attires seem to be ready to give a more amazing look to its prospective African and international customers.
Tetteh Adzedu of ‘Adzedu of Shapes’ trained the apprentice and urged members to improve their standard of competence in the profession.
Tetteh Adzedu, ‘the stubborn traditionalist’ is known for what he makes and for what he puts on as an African “fashionist”
He is committed to promoting African fashion and has for that matter won several international and local awards including Ghana National Awards for Export Achievement in 1990.
The nine week workshop was crowned with a graduation ceremony graced by highly educated academicians from the University of Cape Coast (UCC), traditional and governmental members of the region and Bash Afrique International Models.
The minister said it is necessary for the members themselves to showcase what they make rather than those from foreign lands.
The pro vice chancellor expressed the university’s commitment to contribute its quota to the development of the region.
The 100 matured students made clothing which include but not limited to traditional wears in variety of stylistic shapes, wedding gowns, and men’s suites.
The outfit of the graduates gave the VOTEC auditorium no option than to look picturesque in the mind’s eye of several UCC student observers even after they had left.
