Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast (UCC), Prof. D. D. Kuupole, has disclosed that the Student Representative Council (SRC) would not have representation on both residential and council board meetings to bargain on behalf of students.
This, he said, was as a result of the protracted court cases that have left the undergraduate student front without a leader.
This came to light when the Vice-Chancellor was addressing scores of students of the university at this year’s Student and Management Consultative Meeting on Thursday, April, 9, 2015 at the UCC Main Auditorium.
He added that students would bear the full consequences of that development following the legal tussles which were crippling the activities of the SRC.
Prof. Kuuploe noted that the university statutes recognized only vibrant SRC and that the SRC would regain its representation at these boards after the final determination of the legal suit pending at the Cape Coast High Court.
The Vice-Chancellor further added that the university would deal with students who would take the university to court without exhausting all internal apparatus of the university in addressing their concerns.
In related development, Prof. Kuupole has urged students to surrender themselves for the discipline and training the university instills in them in order to mould their lives positively.
He called upon students of the university to always observe personal security measures by staying out of trouble and cooperating with security officers on campus.
He reiterated that the institution would continue to put the relevant mechanisms in place to guarantee the security of lives and properties
