The Student Representative Council (SRC) president of the University of Cape Coast (UCC),Mr.Francis K. Arthur, has called on Ghanaian politicians to stay way from student politics in educational institutions across the country.
He said that interference by politicians on various campuses across the country had led to several conflicts and promoted partisanship.
Speaking at the openning ceremony of the University Students’ Association of Ghana (USAG) congress at UCC on Monday,Mr. Arthur said the issue of partisan politics had brought deep division within the students front.
He recounted the 2014 USAG congress held at the Methodist University where students were chased off with machetes by a gang of young thugs.
Mr.Athur added that scores of students’ election at the tertiary level ended up in the law court last academic year as a result of partisan politics.
He cautioned troublemakers to stay away from the congess,adding amongst other things that,anybody who forments trouble would be name and shame and dealt with in accordance with the law.
The 2015 USAG election comes off on Saturday, July 25,2015 at UCC.
