NSP to gain permanent jobs after a year of service at respective service areas

The Executive Director of the National Service Scheme (NSS), Hon. Osei Assibey Antwi in his address to the National Service Personnel Association (NSPA) says Service personals will be given permanent positions at their respective works after their one-year service.

Hon. Osei made this declaration during the 2021/2022 Lad Dade-Kotopon Municipality NSPA election and orientation at the Berma camp in Greater Accra.

He made mention saying the goal of the current Management scheme is to build advanced programs to enable more National Service Personals gain viably permanent roles in their field of work after a year of service.

However, statistics shown a higher amount of persons who do not gain jobs after service add up to the unemployed each year, thus, has called for the initiative of the rolled out innovative programs to help equip their skills in order to create their own businesses after service.

“Per our records, only 24% of National Service Personnel reliably find jobs while a whole 76% end up jobless at the end of each service year, so we are using these programmes to work on the numbers to turn the figures around,” he said.

The Executive Director says the newly advanced programs include Pathways to Sustainable Employment (PaSE), Project Ghana Tech Lab (GTL), and Venture Building Program (NSS and University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA).

Also, there are other modules such as (GNSS)/Ghana Enterprises Agency, the Stanbic Graduate Transition Support Program (GTSP), the NSS-GTA Support program and the Youth in Greenhouse Enterprise Project.

“For example, the PaSE project which is currently training 600 personnel in the development of mobile applications and websites will be expanded to train 20,000 personnel by the beginning of next service year,” he explained.

“All these programs have been introduced to solve problems; we didn’t just create them but we did research and found the problems and we are providing the solutions”, he added.
