This year’s UCCLadies Week Celebration under the auspices of the Local NUGS Women Commission will take place from March 4 to March 7, 2015.
As such, the launching of this year’s Ladies Week comes off on Saturday, February, 28, 2015 at the SRC Conference Room of the university.
Speaking to choicism.com, the Local NUGS Women’s Commissioner, Racheal Aryee, indicated that the launching would set the pace and prepare the ground for this year’s Ladies Week and therefore urged all the university community to rally their support behind this programme.
She indicated that all is set to ensure the success of this week-long event because her outfit has selected unique programmes designed to spice up this year’s event.
Apart from the launching, Naa oo Naa as she is affectionately called said that there would be a cooking competition and a health screening exercise at UCC Parliament House on Wednesday, March 4, where mouth-watering dishes would be prepared ranging from both local and continental dishes.
She said that there would be Judges who would score participants of the cooking competition and choose eventual winners who would win a lot of prizes.
This, she said, would be followed by a Seminar on Thursday, March, 5 where experts from different fields would share their knowledge on wide ranging issues focusing largely on women-related issues.
Friday, March, 6 would witness a donation to students with disabilities as a means of showing love and care to the socially-handicapped and the marginalized in society.
The climax of this year’s Ladies Week would be on Saturday, March, 7, 2015, and there would be carnival and rap competition among all the traditional halls within the university.
The theme for this year’s event is “Promoting Ghanaian Culture: the Role of the Tertiary Student” and this theme hopes to celebrate feminism and the role of women in 21st century.
