The Students Representative Council(SRC) of the University of Cape Coast has refuted allegations that students have been charged for the payment of utility for the 2015/16 academic year.
In a strongly worded statement issued and signed by the SRC Secretary,Elizabeth Afia Dwamena, and copied to CHOICISM.COM,called on students to blatantly disregard the false message circulating on social media.
According to the statement, no student has been charged for the payment of utility and asked students to remain calm.
Earlier, a message from the Local NUGS chapter of the UCC Coordinator,Micheal Tetteh, went viral on social media alledged that students have been asked to pay for utilities next academic year.
This,Mr.Tetteh noted, has resulted in hike in fees of students for the next academic year.
Consequently,he called on the government to come clean on the development.

SETTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT
On behalf of the Students Representative Council(SRC) of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) ,I would like to inform students to disregard a purported message circulating on social media that the school fees for the 2015/2016 academic year has been increased astronomically as a result of the payment of utility that has been added to the school fees.
For the records, the SRC President,Mr.Francis Kwabena Arthur, remonstrated against this idea during the Residential Board meeting of which the Local Nugs coordinator,Micheal Tetteh, is not a member.
Please, I wish to place on public record that no student has been charge for the payment of utility. Pure and simple!
We therefore plead for any inconvenience the unfortunate message has caused.
Currently, the final fees has been finalized pending official administrative approval from the Chairman of the University Council,Nana Brew Butler, who is,however, out of the country for official assignment. He is expected to return to the country this week to append his signature for the official release of the fees.
The council urges all students to exercise restraint and always seek credible information from the Public relations Department of the SRC.
The SRC wishes all of you the best of luck. God bless us all and continue to enjoy your vacation….
Signed….
Elizabeth Dwamena
