The software manager whose software was used in the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) elections at the University of Ghana has been picked up by operatives of the Bureau of National Investigations on Tuesday.
A senior official at the University of Ghana confirmed the arrest to citifmonline.com.
According to the university official, “… I have been informed of it but I don’t know the reason.”
The reason behind his arrest is sketchy but reports reaching from campus indicate that Stephen Forson, the software manager has been arrested for allegedly swapping the results of the elections held last week.
It is alleged that the Stephen Forson caused one Mikdad Mohammed to lose against the perceived favourite Fobi Ohene Davis.
The results, as declared by the Electoral Commission of the school last week showed that Davis polled 4,933 representing 76.6% against Mikdad’s 1,511 representing 23.4% of the total valid votes counter.
The Station Manager at Radio Univers, Dr Abubakar Sidick in an interview on the university’s station, confirmed the arrest after speaking to the Dean of Students Dr James Adomako.
He stated on Radio Universe that “I have finally received the confirmation that indeed he is with the BNI at this moment. yes mr forson has been picked and he is with the BNI. As to why he was picked we haven’t been told. I am sure at the appropriate time that will come out”.
