On Friday 4th October, 2013, Patriot Ghana UCC chapter in collaboration with the Public Health Team of Ghana Health Service Cape Coast visited Ebenezer Creche at Social Welfare Cape Coast and rendered some health exercise for the kids. The exercise involved giving a talk on personal hygiene, taking the weight of the kids, checking their height and a general screening of their skin, hands, nose, ears, teeth and other part of their body to know how healthy these kids were. The team was led by the President of Patriots Ghana (Douglas Agyeman), including Baah Charles, Laweh, Emmanuel Ahenkorah and Innocent Mensah.
The nurses from the Ghana Health Service gave members of Patriots Ghana a short training on how to take the heights, weights and how to record the information gathered from these kids during the screening process. After the short training, some of the members of Patriots UCC with the help of the nurses took the weights of the kids, some also took their heights, whilst others recorded information gathered from these kids during the screening process which was done by these nurses since they were specialist. During the screening process, the nurses detected some kids with running nose,BCG present, some had skin diseases, dirt in their ears, eye problems and some had dirt hiding in their fingernails. Some of the problems which could be solved was done by the nurses whilst others were referred to the hospital. After the screening, a talk was given by Douglas Agyeman to enlighten the kids on personal hygiene and also how to observe proper personal hygiene. These kids had a nice time as well as Patriots Ghana team.
This activity has been very successful and rewarding considering the impact on the children even though it was a one day event.
We use this opportunity to call everyone to come join the Patriots team to help make a difference in our various communities in Ghana.
