The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) of the University of Cape Coast (UCC), Mr. Theophilus Saki Sosi, has declared his intention to contest next semester’s SRC Presidential polls.
On Tuesday, in a statement copied to the Choicism.com,the SRC spokesman said:” After several months of solemn prayers, deep thoughts and thorough deliberation,I have decided to run for UCC SRC presidency”.
He noted, according to the statement, that he was not expecting “this humble declaration of intent to be met by wild jubilation and celebration, but surely you can sense a feeling of inspiration and great hope about this announcement and that is what matters most.”
The statement said the spokesman did not announce his intentions last semester because of his responsibility to bridge the yawning communication gap between students and the SRC,adding that the move helped him focus on his electoral vow of “Reaching Every Student”.
The statement said, when Mr.Sosi is elected as the SRC president next semester, he would be guided by these words:” Our obligation is not to ourselves. It is not to Government, neither is it to Management. Our obligation is to the innocent student”.
Mr.Sosi is likely to face stiff competition from other credible SRC presidential hopefuls next year.
