UCC Parliament gets new tables

Choicism has gathered that the University of Cape Coast (UCC) House of Parliament (UCC HP) will on Thursday,October 1, 2015 inaugurate its new parliamentary tables.

The made-in-Ghana tables, numbering four, are to facilitate the work of the law makers during sitting.

Since the inception of the House in 1962, past and current legislators had been jotting parliamentary notes in their diaries on their laps.

It is in the light of this heart-rending development that the leadership of the House (2015/16) under Rt.Hon. Emmanuel Acheampong,House Speaker, has procured the four tables.

According to a parliamentary source, the tables will be shared between the majority and the minority benches.

On Monday, speaking to Choicism on the sidelines of the UCC Medical Students Health Week launching, the Acting Spokesman of the House,Hon.Enoch Acheampong said:”I can confirm to you that on Thursday the House will unveil the four tables in the Chamber”,adding that,”Invitation has been extended to the SRC president of the university of Cape Coast to inaugurate the tables”.

He noted that the House will hold its final swearing-in ceremony for the semester to newly- elected members of parliament who won their constituency elections the previous semester.

Hon.Acheampong appealed to students of the university who wish to join the House for the 2015/15 academic year to call the following numbers:0507098569/ 0249937502.

He called on the members of the university Community to turn up in their numbers on Thursday to grace the inauguration at the UCC Parliament House at 10am.
