A First year student of the Kumasi Polytechnic, Thomas Agyapong 23 has been killed by robbers at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) junction near Ayiga a suburb of the Kumasi Metropolis.
The incident according to police account, occurred at about 2am on Tuesday when the deceased was in his room in the company of three of his mates preparing for lectures later that day.
They were reported to have heard neighbours screaming and calling for help after being held hostage by robbers in a robbery attack within the same compound.
While trying to seek for alternative ways of fleeing from the robbers, one of them tried breaking into the room of the deceased but he resisted and in the process he was shot on the neck and left in a pool of blood.
The bandits immediately fled the neighborhood on realizing that the incident had attracted more persons within the vicinity.
With the help of cotenants, Thomas Agyapong was rushed to the KNUST Hospital but pronounced dead on arrival.
A complaint has officially been lodged with the KNUST police who confirmed the incident to ultimate1069.com, but disclosed that the police administration is currently investigating the matter to unravel the perpetrators behind the incident.
The body has since been deposited at the KNUST hospital for autopsy.
