Takoradi Polytechnic scoops prestigious ARCH OF EUROPE AWARDS ; Takoradi PolytechnicTakoradi Polytechnic has this year scooped the International Arch of Europe Award (Gold Category) for her “commitment to quality, innovation, technology and leadership.” The Polytechnic and 49 other institutions from America, Europe, Asia, Africa, the Oceania and the Middle East received the 2014 International Quality Awards organized by Business Initiative Directions (BID) on April 13, 2014 in Frankfurt, Germany.

The award instituted by the Business Initiative Directions (BID) based in Madrid, Spain, is presented to companies, Institutions and universities all over the world who demonstrate commitment to quality and sustainability, as well as excellence in technology, innovation and business leadership.

Presenting the award to the Polytechnic, the President and CEO of the BID Group, Jose E. Prieto, noted that the Gold Award was as a result of the Polytechnic’s continuous commitment to improving management and maintaining leadership in the educational sector in Ghana and Africa. He also recognized the Polytechnic’s efforts at creating an enabling environment for the implementation of quality processes through technology and procedures of total quality management.

Briefing the media on the award, the Rector of Takoradi Polytechnic Rev. Prof. Daniel A. Nyarko, indicated that Takoradi Polytechnic is poised to revolutionize education in a manner that will benefit the nation’s next generation irrespective of gender, race, religion or status. The numerous awards received by the Polytechnic between 2012 and 2014 depict the commitment of management and staff to meet the quality levels established in the educational sector in accordance with the Quality Control (QC) 100 Point of Quality standards.

Rev. Prof. Nyarko observed that the Arch of Europe Award gives the management of the Polytechnic a sense of fulfillment and also opens the door of Europe to the staff and students of the Polytechnic as well as other Polytechnics in Ghana. He added that the Polytechnic is committed to providing human resource, both technical and vocational, to achieve constant improvement and respect for the environment in which it operates.

The International Arch of Europe Award is the latest of the growing list of awards the Takoradi Polytechnic has been receiving for its outstanding efforts in technology and innovation education between June 2012 and April 2014. Previous awards include the Best Polytechnic in WEBOMETRICS Rankings, Best Practices in Examination Ethics by Exam Ethics Marshalls International, Best Quality Management Practices (Gold Category) by the European Society for Quality Research (ESQR) based in Lausanne, Switzerland and Best Regional Polytechnic in Science and Education by the Socrates Committee of the Europe Business Assembly based in Oxford, United Kingdom.

The Rector of Takoradi Polytechnic, Rev. Prof. Daniel Adjepong Nyarko, was also admitted into the World Register of outstanding Scientists of the 21st century by the Socrates Committee of Oxford in another ceremony in London, UK, with the award of a medal of fame and a certificate for his exceptional contributions to science.
