The University of Cape Coast (UCC) Students’ Representative Council (SRC), under the leadership of The Abraham Norman Nortey, has officially released the list of qualified applicants for the much-anticipated SRC Scholarship Support Program.
This initiative, aimed at assisting financially disadvantaged but academically outstanding students, received overwhelming applications from undergraduates seeking financial aid. After a rigorous selection process, a total of 33 students have been awarded the scholarship, with some receiving full coverage and others partial support.
The application period ran from 25th January to 10th February 2025, followed by interviews held on 12th February 2025. After thorough evaluations, the final list of beneficiaries was announced on 15th February 2025.
Eligibility criteria for the scholarship required applicants to demonstrate genuine financial need, maintain academic excellence, and not be beneficiaries of any other scholarship. The selection process was conducted meticulously to ensure fairness and transparency.
Significance of the SRC Scholarship
Speaking on the initiative, the SRC leadership reiterated its commitment to student welfare, emphasizing that this scholarship is a step towards alleviating financial burdens on deserving students. The program aligns with the administration’s vision of academic empowerment and equal opportunities for all students, ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder academic success.
Beneficiaries expressed profound gratitude to the SRC for the intervention, describing it as a life-changing opportunity. One recipient, Emmanuel Kyei, who was awarded full sponsorship, shared his excitement, stating, “This scholarship means everything to me. It will enable me to focus entirely on my studies without the stress of financial challenges.”

The SRC has assured the student body that more initiatives geared towards academic and financial support will be rolled out in the coming months. Students are encouraged to stay informed and take advantage of future opportunities.
The SRC expresses its gratitude to the Dean of Students, and the Students’ Financial Support Office, for their invaluable guidance, advice, and support throughout this initiative.
